Not only is it our favorite time of year for so many reasons, but Evanston is the perfect place to enjoy the colorful autumn leaves and crisp, cool air. Come out to the farmers’ market on September 29 for an evening of beer, cider, and delicious German food at Oktoberfest! In addition to the culinary delights, there will also be a variety of games and activities, including dancing and live music at this all-ages event.
Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival
If you anticipate the release of pumpkin spice lattes more than you do your own birthday (or if you just really enjoy fall), then be sure to stop by the Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival! Here, you’ll find pumpkin carving, rides, live music, delicious food, costume contests, and so much more. This three-day event, which runs October 10 through October 13, is not only a local tradition, but it’s also a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois. Admission is $5 per day.
Fall Whiskey Tasting Festival
Whether your poison of choice is scotch or bourbon (or something different), then this event will be right up your alley. The 2019 Chicago Fall Whiskey Tasting Festival is taking place on September 28, and if you’re a fan of whiskey, then you’ll definitely want to go check it out! Make sure to get your tickets first, then head over to the Concrete Cowboy for an evening of sublime whiskeys and meeting fellow aficionados!
