Fall is almost upon Evanston. That means it’s time to pack up your swimsuits and break out those cozy knit sweaters. Here are three of the most interesting September events around Evanston:
Evanston Streets Alive! + Green Living Festival
First, Citizen’s Greener Evanston, the Evanston Environmental Association, and the City of Evanston will present the Evanston Streets Alive! + Green Living Festival. From 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Evanston’s Main Street, local vendors will be demonstrating, promoting, and selling their green products and ideas. There will be plenty of activities, entertainment, and more to promote a more sustainable and friendly community.
Kits, Cats, and Kids Block Party
From 4:45 pm to 7:30 pm on September 13th, join the Evanston community downtown on Sherman Avenue at Davis Street for games, arts, crafts, activities, live music, and food at the Kits, Cats and Kids Block Party. First Bank and Trust are sponsoring 200 free hot dogs. Hurry over because it’s first come, first served! There will also be several local food trucks and restaurants featured. Discounted football tickets will be available for purchase for the game coming up on Saturday the 15th against Akron.
Bike the Ridge
Finally, end September at the Bike the Ridge event on the 30th. Ridge Avenue will be closed to vehicles from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for bike-riders from all around Evanston to enjoy the refreshing autumn weather in a non-competitive bike ride. The ride will begin at Howard Street at Ridge Avenue and will end at Church Street. Bikers are encouraged to bike back and forth or however long they choose. There will be lots of activities at Ridgeville and Alexander Parks including live music, free helmets, bike repairs, bike registration, and even bike decoration. Grab something to eat from the local food trucks on site:
- Hummingbird Kitchen
- Krave: Chicago-style Hot Dog Cart
- Amanecer Tacos
- La Cocinita Restaurant
